Alex is: Housebroken and Crate Trained

GREAT with other animals (currently lives with a cat, another big dog and a small dog) Knows his name and basic commands Fantastic for baths and nail trims (he just stands there quietly for both! And his favorite activity to getting toweled off after baths. He cries with happiness and runs into the towel) Not high energy. He enjoys walks, but is just as happy sleeping on his dog bed all day

It has been amazing watching Alex’s transformation over the last 3 months! He came in  hairless, fearful and reactive. He was treated for mange and his fur grew back, but he has had some residual itchiness. He is currently on a food trial, and if that goes well, he will hopefully be able to be managed with just a non prescription specific protein diet and no medications.

Alex is gentle and very lovable with his people, but in typical German Shepherd fashion, he is protective of his family and will alert you of anyone who shouldn’t be around. Once introduced to a new person, he does just fine with them being in his space, but is wary if meeting them on a leash or behind a fence. I am working to get him better with this by exposing him to many new people and environments- he comes to work with me occasionally and I have used a variety of different people to let him out during the day when I’m at work.
