10/30/20 Update: Jako #A2133546 has been a long road for this guy. He has come such a long way. He is able to play, run , and be a dog. 6/20/20 Update: Jako waiting for Dr.Mitch I’ve gain some weight, I’m eating pretty good I still don’t keep it all down, like I should ... but I sure do like food. I was released to resume doggie life. Update :Jako #A2133546 successful Saturday.
Update: Alright guys, here’s the surgery and weekend hospitalization total plus ASH estimate. 1st bill: $2802.52 So far = 4879.82 - 5497.62 He is on pain meds, on fluids, has chest tubes in to decompress his chest every 30-45 minutes, and being monitored 24/7 until he is in the clear. Update: Jako #A2133546 is out of surgery! The surgeon stated it was one of the hardest ones he’s done, especially because of his age. The procedure is normally done in 3-4 month old dogs, and Jako is 8-9 months. In most cases, the esophagus decompresses enough to function normally, however he feels that the large tissue he removed has severely damaged the esophagus to the point where he will be treated as a severe case of mega esophagus - meaning he will only be able to consume 1tbsp of wet soft food at a time. The next 48 hours are extremely critical is his recovery. His chest tubes are being drained every 30 minutes. We will be picking him up and transferring him to a 24 hour ICU speciality hospital ASH - BluePearl Naples. This is going to be extremely costly but he is worth every penny. Donations will still be needed for his 24 hour around the clock/ICU care. We were hoping to have better news. But let’s keep sweet JAKO in our prayers and thoughts. We will post again soon. Thank you everyone! Update: Surgery is estimated $2200 plus pre-op and post-op care Update: Jako #A2133546 has a persistent right aortic arch and will need surgery. He also has a very bad case of bacterial aspiration pneumonia, which is common with this issue. The pneumonia will need to be treated first. He essentially has mega esophagus due to the persistent right aortic arch and will need a bailey chair and a special diet. This is just the tip of the iceberg. He will be at the vet through the weekend for close monitoring and heavy antibiotics. We are waiting on estimates Here with Jako #A2133546 from MDAS. Incredibly skinny and malnourished, having such a hard time breathing. He is in sad shape. Thank you Animalife for seeing us on such short notice! We will keep everyone updated.
