Brown Puppy 0543

Anubis’s rescue story;
Sweet Nubie is 7 months old! We brought him home when he was 10 weeks. He was supposed to be a last minute, urgent week long foster. His parents are a Belgian Malinois & and a Dutch Shepherd. breeders could only find homes for 5 of 10 puppies so released the rest to rescue…that’s a different conversation. My daughter and I went to go pick up a foster puppy, we had seen them all and were about to leave with Anubis’s brother…then out comes Anubis (then ‘brown puppy’) from hiding. He was the most shy, I didn’t even know he was there. He came out, sat on the lap of the person sitting next to me, and looked me dead in the eyes like he still does today. He knew. I knew. I also knew that choosing the most timid puppy usually means a timid or reactive dog, but hey it’s only a week. We foster failed after a week, we named him Anubis for obvious reasons…and 6 months later here we are. He stole our hearts. He’s so sweet, smart & funny. He’s got some really strange and hilarious quirks. He gives the sweetest kisses and maligator bites I ever got and he loves his neck and chest rubbed. He loves our daughter a little too much, he loves to play and he’s trouble on the run. #dogstagram #rescuestory #belgianmalinoisofinstagram #dutchshepherd #malinois #dogsofinstagram

Black Porsha Pup 0331
Black Porsha Pup 0331

How is the pup adjusting to your home currently? He has taken over. Not sure things will ever be the same. Lost a pair of flip flops, a fitbit charger & phone charger – but overall the casualties have been minimal.

If you have any other pets, how has the adjustment been for all of them? Gaby (our 5 yr old GSD from BCGSR) both loves him and is quite annoyed by him all at the same time. I feel the same way about my younger brother so I can relate. (See pics posted on the BCGSR Alumni page and some I attached for fun) Bosley (one of our cats) is quite found of him. I believe he’s plotting to use Loki for his inevitable take over. Nala (9 yr old pit mix) thinks he’s fun to play with. The other cats have decided that they will either hide or ignore him.

If you have any children, is the pup and your child(ren) getting along well? I believe Phia (our 6 yr old daughter) is one of the pack now. Although she is not nearly as fast. But all dogs realize she is the easiest human from which to get a treat. My son is 20 and keeps threatening to steal him. The 20 year old may not be long for this world if he tries.

Is the puppy experiencing any issues with the following areas of concern:

·         Feeding Definitely not – unless you consider eating me out of house and home?

·         Sleeping He snores sometimes, but no worse than my husband

·         Exercising At the moment he is not as fast a Gaby, but he’s getting there

·         Housetraining All good here – crate training helped

·         Behavioral tendencies He is awful on a leash but we’re working with him. Other than that, he’s been good.

·         Allergies/skin problems Serious answer – he is quite possibly the most ticklish dog I have ever known. I haven’t notice any dandruff but was going to ask the vet if he’s just a ticklebug or if he needs some special shampoo or something.

Bailey 0237

Everything is going well with Bailey, shes been holding a good weight at 57 lbs from our vet appointment about 2 weeks ago. Sleep I would say is normal, tends to sleep till noon or 1 pm with me since I'm on nights.
exercise is plentiful, she usually gets walked about 3 times a day for about a mile or so. plus shes a play baby so is constantly chasing her ball around the house. She tends to be very protective of both me and Jill. She's been showing separation anxiety when I have to leave but we've been working on that.
Since we feel she's finally acclimated to the house and neighborhood we began command training, She's getting better with listening and attentiveness.
